F minor - Research on Harmony - Variation 2

Ab7 enters for the first time — the highest Ab, translating to near-white, the blue almost entirely bleached out. Variation 2 is a valley from F1 to Ab7 with 72% highlights: the brightest étude in the opening cluster. Five notes: F1, F2, C3, Ab6, Ab7. The two Ab's at the top — Ab6 and Ab7 — establish a high-register blue zone that verges on silver.

The valley dips to F1 (dark red-violet) before returning to the Ab cluster. The F's (F1, F2) provide dark bass; the C3 fifth sits in the mid-range; Ab6 and Ab7 carry the upper palette toward near-white. Only 20% shadows despite the deep F1 start.

Ab7 will recur throughout the series — each time it appears, the chord's coolness reaches its farthest extreme, the blue becoming so light it nearly loses its color entirely.
