Db Octaves - Reflexions 11

Five notes — Db2 to Db5 — the pitch Db repeated across four octaves with an orange accent at D3, one semitone above. Played Animé, mp, legato, in three — a waltz ascending from the near-black of Db2 to the pale gray of Db5. The phrase climbs without turning back.

Db gives blue-green, and the canvas is a gradient of that single hue — dark at the bottom, lightening as the octaves rise, the same teal-blue color modulated only by register. The orange accent at D3 glows at the lower-middle, a warm visitor in an otherwise cool study. Three octaves of blue-green darkening toward black, one octave brightening toward gray.

The octave series stripped to its essence: one pitch, one color, the same note heard at different heights. The orange accent is the only reminder that this étude lives inside a larger harmonic world.
