Three notes — D4, D5, D6 — the pitch D in three consecutive octaves, all in the upper half of the keyboard. An orange accent implied. Played Lent, mp, legato, in three — a slow waltz descending from D6 to D4. The phrase opens in the high register and falls gently.

Orange in three steps — warm and saturated at D4, brightening at D5, lightening toward red at D6 as the register lifts. No bass, no darkness, the entire étude suspended in the middle-to-upper range. The canvas is warm and light throughout.

The brightest D study — no low registers to darken the palette, the orange floating in its most luminous range. A short waltz across three octaves of warm light, the phrase settling gently rather than falling into darkness.
