Description

Pure F octaves — five notes, no accents. F1, F2, F3, F4, F5. The pitch F repeated in five consecutive registers, nothing else. Played Lent, mp, legato, in four — the arch rising from F1 to F5 and folding back. Slow, meditative, the most complete and purest octave study in the series.

F gives red-violet, and the canvas is a five-step gradient of that single hue — near-black at F1, deepening through dark violet at F2, warming at F3, reaching full red-violet saturation at F4, and lightening at F5. No other color. The painting is monochrome in the truest sense.

The purest étude in the Octaves collection — five consecutive octaves of one pitch, one color, no outside tones. Red-violet from floor to ceiling, the arch tracing the same note through five different depths of the same hue.
