Seven notes ascending — Ab2 to A5 — four Ab octaves with three warm accents: orange at D3, red-orange at G3, yellow-orange at A5. Played Animé, mp, legato, in three — a waltz climbing from darkness to light. The Ab octaves fill the canvas in blue, each register lighter than the last.

Blue grounds the painting — dark at Ab2, gray at Ab3, brightening at Ab4, pale at Ab5. But the warm accents are prominent: orange and red-orange sit in the lower-middle, yellow-orange caps the phrase. The canvas alternates between the cool blue of Ab and the warm intrusions, the ascent carrying both toward light.
