Description

A small piano étude translated into color. The Eb Octaves octave — Eb1, Eb2, Eb3, G3, D4, Eb4, F6, Bb6 — appears here as blue-violet toward black, the chromesthetic translation of this chord. From Eb1 to Bb6, the étude breathes across the full keyboard. Some accents — red-orange, orange, red-violet, violet — appear as tensions outside the chord tones.

Played Animé — with animation and a sense of forward motion, mp — at a gentle, conversational volume. Dipping down to Eb1 (black) before returning, the line traces a valley — an inward gesture. Arnaud wrote it in four, the pulse walks with a steady, even tread.

This painting belongs to my Synesthetic Explorations series, an ongoing practice of translating harmonic relationships into visual form. Each variation is a study — direct, unadorned, focused on the essential character of the chord.
