Ab Octaves - Reflexions 20

Seven notes climbing from Ab2 to E6 — Ab octaves with accents from three different color families: orange at D4, yellow at E5 and E6, green at Gb5. Played Animé, mp, legato, in three. The Ab octaves sit at Ab2, Ab4, Ab5 — three registers of blue — while the accents fill the upper half in warm and cool tones.

Blue at Ab2 anchors the bass in gray. Orange at D4 warms the lower-middle. Blue returns at Ab4, then the upper registers scatter: yellow at E5, green at Gb5, blue again at Ab5, yellow-orange at E6. The canvas above Ab4 holds four colors in rapid succession — a small constellation of hues clustered in two octaves.

The most colorful octave study in the series — Ab's blue appears three times, but the accents outnumber the octave tones, the upper half of the painting a patchwork of warm and cool visitors around the recurring blue.
